Blueberry and Basil Treats

Basil is an awesome herb that I just discovered has huge benefits for your dog and I have been loving cooking with it! Basil is an aromatic herb that is also known for its antioxidant, antiviral and antimicrobial properties. This herb has been known to help alleviate the effects of arthritis pain in dogs due to its high concentration of beta-carophyllene. This same compound makes basil useful in treating inflammatory bowel disease. Other benefits of basil for dogs include lifting the mood, decreasing stress, and reducing anxiety. This is a great treat recipe that I use to help get some basil into my dogs diet and milo loves gobbling these up for an afternoon or evening treat!

Here is what you’ll need…

  • 1 cup of blueberries
  • 2 teaspoons of water
  • 1 tablespoon of  basil
  • 1 3/4 cups of whole wheat flour

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Step 2: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 3: add blueberries and basil into food processor and blend together

Step 4: In a large bowl, add whole wheat flour, water, basil, and blueberries together and mix until a dough forms.
